Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, poet and travel writer, of Victorian Age, and a representative of neo-romanticism in English literature. During his life he made many travels, which were very useful for the composition of some his work.

He was born on 13 November 1850, in Edinburgh, the son of Thomas Stevenson, a lighthouse engineer, and his wife Margaret.
The city of Stevenson’s birth was a source of inspiration to him all his life. But its damp climate contributed to the serious respiratory illness which began in his childhood.
Attended a variety of schools including the Edinburgh Academy, with frequent interruption because of ill-health.

At Edinburgh University, initially studying engineering to follow his father’s profession, changing to law in 1871. He was a founder of the Edinburgh University Magazine and already preoccupied with writing.

On holiday in France met Fanny Osborne. Fanny was an American, ten years Stevenson’s senior, with an unsatisfactory marriage and two children.
Stevenson seems to have fallen in love with at once!

In 1876 took a canoeing trip with his friend Sir Walter Simpson and, two years after, in 1878, the publication of “An Inland Voyage”, an account of the canoeing holiday.
Took a walking tour with a donkey in France, recorded in “travels with a donkey”.

In 1880 married Funny in San Francisco. Returned to Scotland to visit his parents.
Began writing “Treasure Island” Stevenson's most famous work and first real popular success was inspired by a map of an imaginary island given to his step-son.

In 1884, in France, fell dangerously ill with severe pulmonary haemorrhage.

Between 1884 and 1887 he lives in England, on the south coast, for its climate and he public “The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde” in 1886.

In 1889 bought house and settled at Vailima, Western Samoa, more and more famous and quite wealthy. He buried in Samoa in 1894.

- pensa in inglese e non prima italiano e poi traduci

R.L era uno scozzese, novellista, poeta e scrittore di viaggi dell'età vittoriana, e un rappresentativo della letteratura neo-romantica.Durante la sua vita fece molti viaggi, i quali gli servirono per la composizione dei suoi lavori.
Nacque il 13/11/1850 in edimburgo, figlio di ThomasS., un ingegnere dei fari (Quelli del mare), e sua moglie Margaret.
La citta di nascita di Stevenson fu per tutta la sua vita una fonte di ispirazione. Il suo clima umido contribuì alla sua msera malattia respiratoria che iniziò nella sua giovinezza.
Frequentò una varietà di scuole compresa l'accademia di edimburgo,m con frequenti interruzioni a causa della sua malattia.
All'università di edimburgo, inizialmente studiò ingeegneria per seguire la professione di suoo padre, ma cambiò in giurisprudenza nel 1871. Fu uno dei fondatori del Giornale dell'università di edimburgo e iniziò già allora a preoccupare con i suoi scritti.

In Vacanza in francia incontrò Fanny O. F. era un americana più vecchia di S. di 10 anni con un matrimonio finito male e 2 banbini
Sembra che S. se ne innamorò subito.
nel 1876 fece un giro in canoa con il suo amico Sir W. S. e, 2 anni dopo, nel 1978, pubblicò "un viaggio nell'entroterra", un resoconto dellla sua vacanza in canoa.
Fece un tour a dorso di un asino in Francia, che registrò in "Viaggi con un asino"

nel 80 sposò F. in San Francisco. Ritornò in scozia per trovare i suoi genitori. Iniziò a scrivere "L'isola del tesoro" il suo lavoro più famoso e primo vero successo popolare che gli fu ispirato da una mappa di un isola immaginaria che regalò al suo figliastro.
Nel 84 , in francia, cadde gravemente ammalato con una grave emoragia polmonare.
Tra 84-87 visse in Inghilterra, sulla costa sud, per via del suo clima e pubblicò nel 86 "Lo strano caso del Dr J e Mr H" .
Nel 89 comprò casa e si accasò a Vailima, Samoa est, sempre più famoso e abbastanza ricco. Fu sepolto a Samoa nel 94
